Landscape fabric is easy on environment, tough on weeds

By Kari Smith

(NC)-This year's "in" colour is definitely green: eco-friendly green.

One of the best-known landscape fabric brands has gone green. WeedBlock Natural is the world's first weed control fabric made with annually renewable resources. The new eco-friendly landscape fabric helps gardeners control weeds, conserve water, and reduce their environmental footprint.

"Gardeners have always been environmentally savvy," said Sheila Jones, Easy Gardener's vice president of product development. "It only made sense to create an eco-friendly landscape fabric."

The new landscape fabric is made with Ingeo fibre, which is derived from renewable resources, like corn. For every 10,000 rolls of WeedBlock Natural used, gardeners help decrease oil consumption by 20 barrels.

WeedBlock Natural is easy on the environment but tough on weeds. It keeps weeds out and lets moisture in for healthy plant growth. The fabric also encourages healthy root growth by keeping the soil moist and cool. More information is available online at www.easygardener.com or toll-free at 1-800-327-9462.

In addition to helping save the environment, WeedBlock Natural also saves time, as you won't have to pull weeds. Spread the fabric over plants, cut holes to the size needed, pull the fabric down around the plant and then cover the fabric with mulch, bark or stones. It will last up to seven years.

WeedBlock Natural makes "going green" easy, so this spring, be one of the first in your neighbourhood to showcase the latest "in" colour.
